Black and Latino

yesss.. omg the quotes on Hollywood are epic! Gina Torres: “The world likes their Latinas to look Italian” and poor Jessy had me dyiiinnnn “What you want me to do, you want me to salsa while I speak?… Damn, i didn’t know how to be Latino, thank you for explaining that to me” that is horribly hilarious.  Hollywood treats their ethnic ppl like shit :/

AMEN TO THIS VIDEO. sidenote: Gina Torres can get it any day of the week.

My name is Christina R. Bernard, and THIS is my life story.

I couldn’t tell you how many times being with my father, who’s a deep chocolate 6’4” Panamanian man, when he started to speak Spanish and everyone’s jaw would drop. How many times I’ve been called a Mexican and told “You aren’t black! Look at your hair and you eat rice and beans everyday. You ain’t black!” In my own family going up against, and having to battle and fight, about my “good hair”. Not knowing which ethnicity box to check when I was 12 yrs old because I knew I looked black, I AM black. But my culture, my heritage, the blood running through my veins was that of a Latina. Being in high school and watching the “Blacks vs. Browns” race riots and not knowing where to go if shit got real lol.

I can keep going, but I’ll spare you.

Like Laz said, 48% of all Latin countries are black people.

Interesting…
